The movie; Holes

Stanley Yelnats IV, a normal teenager whose family has been cursed because of the misdeed of his great-great grandfather, is falsely accused of a crime and sent to Camp Green Lake for 18 months. Of course there is no lake, nor is there any green; Camp Green Lake is in the middle of the desert.

Each day the boys must dig a hole 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep as a means of building character Of course Warden Weaver has a secret reason for having the boys dig holes, and once Stanley discovers the secret the story becomes an adventure.

Meant for a younger crowd, this film definitely rates as a great new family classic. On a scale of one to ten I give this film a ten and urge adults to watch this movie with their children, or even after they have put the children to bed.

Review Fatal Voyage

Fatal Voyage
Released 2001

The fourth in the Tempe Brennan series, Fatal Voyage combines the disaster of a plane crash with the psychological thrill of a pursuit as Brennan finds herself the target of a conspiracy to keep her from an inadvertent discovery.

Temperance is called to assist with victim identification for a TransSouth Air crash. During identification, Brennan locates a foot that reveals itself as suspicious; as in not fitting the profile of any of the TransSouth victims. Before she realizes what is happening, a long time friend is found murdered and she is involved in a highly publicized investigation into ‘irregularities’ and compromising the investigation.

While attempting to clear herself, Tempe finds herself being stalked by someone that truly does not want her to realize what the foot actually means.

Again, this is a fast, must read. It is a page turned from beginning to end.

Book Review: Deja Dead

Deja Dead
Released 1997

Deja Dead is a much slower read than the other Kathy Reichs novels. I believe this is the very first in Reichs’ Temperance Brennan series. She puts a great deal of information that makes for a slower start. Midway into the book the Kathy Reich that I have come to know and love, comes shining through.

Dr. Brennan, desperate to make investigating officers understand that they have a serial killer on the loose, she starts her own investigation. Her investigation locates yet another body, but she forgets to tell the investigators that while she was digging, someone knocked her out. While investigators dig up the spot locating pieces of the body, they realize that the murderer has removed the victims head, which latter shows up in Dr. Brennan’s shrubs.

Her continual instigation in the investigation gets her best friend killed and makes her the killer’s next victim. Set aside a little more time for this novel, but make sure you read it!
